{"id":59,"date":"2024-02-22T13:43:23","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T13:43:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/castle.nicuilie.eu\/?p=59"},"modified":"2024-02-22T13:47:35","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T13:47:35","slug":"old-court-of-bucharest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wansait.com\/tranzit\/en\/old-court-of-bucharest\/02\/","title":{"rendered":"Old Court of Bucharest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Old Court (Curtea Veche)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Near D\u00e2mbovi\u0163a, the river that runs through Bucharest\u2019s heart, there are the vestiges of the Princely Court, the oldest medieval monument in Bucharest.&nbsp; Built of brick in the second half of the 14th century, the city was expanded and surrounded by a defense wall during the reign (the 15th century) of Vlad \u201cDracula\u201d \u0162epe\u015f, the Wallachia ruler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from the obvious political role (Bucharest was already a second capital of the region), the city has also acquired a special economic status, regarding the urban commercial and handicraft activities. Even today the surrounding streets have preserved atmosphere, as well as the old names.
